Copywriting plays a key role in the success of your online business. Why is good copywriting so important? The answer is simple according to MarketingHeadhunter.com’s Marketing Tip of the Week:

“Nothing forces a marketer to know her product and buyers so well as writing a sales letter with an arc to it – a beginning, middle, and end – constructed in the problem, agitate, solve format.”

Right about now, you are probably groaning because your days are already packed with everything else you need to do get done as an Internet entrepreneur. Besides, can’t you just outsource copywriting?

Sure you can but for successful Internet marketing, you must at least know the fundamentals of good business copywriting. Otherwise, you have to rely on copywriters who use shock value or fear tactics to sell because they lack the deep understanding of your target audience as you do.

You can’t completely get away from copywriting in business so you might as well learn to work it into your schedule and harness the true power of words that sell and persuade customers to take action now.

Here are five ways that you can make time for copywriting and be productive:

1. Keep a notepad handy or buy a digital tape recorder – jot down ideas or dictate thoughts as they come to you. This will help you overcome one of the biggest complaints of non-copywriters, “I don’t know what to write about.” You never know when you may think of a brilliant solution for a business problem that you can write about.

2. Write about what you know – an easy way to get started with copywriting is to write about what you already know. You’ll be surprised how much good content you can generate by writing about your own business experiences, trials and tribulations. Sharing your experiences has the added benefit of making a personal connection with your readers who may identify with your situation in their own lives. That’s the key to building a community of interested readers and rabid fans who become paying customers.

3. Rewire your brain to find newsworthy subjects in everyday situations – as a business owner, your hands-on experiences of what to do and not to do to increase sales is invaluable to your readers. Write about these real-life experiences and post them to your blog or make them into articles that you can submit to article directories. Share your mistakes and talk about what you learned from them to inspire and motivate your audience.

4. Add copywriting to your daily “To Do List” – make it a habit to write everyday whether it is a blog post or an article, even if you don’t finish it that day. I find it best to do my copywriting first thing in the morning before I get busy with everything else. If nothing else, I’ll add something to my copywriting swipe file that I can refer to anytime I need some inspiration. Set aside about thirty minutes each day for business copywriting. You may find it more convenient at the end of the day, whatever works best for you.

5. Stay motivated – begin by making a list of the reasons why copywriting is good for your business. Tape it to your wall above the computer. Here are some pointers to set you on the right path:

• Fresh content keeps readers coming back
• Writing about your experiences can establish you as an expert in your field
• Persuasive copywriting increases conversion rates

Copywriting can be fun and productive once you get the hang of it. Writing about what you know gives you the perfect place to start. Incorporate that and the other four suggestions to make copywriting a priority in your business.
