In affiliate marketing, the importance of the landing page cannot be underestimated. This page is where prospective customers “land” when they click on an advertisement or link on the page they have been reading. Where they land is often a webpage that is more focused on the product they’ve been reading about. More information is given about this particular product, usually followed by a call to action, encouraging viewers to now make a purchase via a “buy now” or similarly labeled link. Making this page as effective as possible begins with the ability to concisely describe the product, portraying its value and necessity to the public.

Before beginning authoring and constructing an effective landing page, you need to consider who you are trying to reach with your pitch. Identifying your audience and tailoring your descriptions and details exclusively to them is an excellent way to boost your chances of success. Appealing to this target audience is indeed the key to your ultimate success. Finding a way to concisely and succinctly spell out exactly what the product is about, who can benefit from it and how, will be your aim; the quicker you can encourage viewers to click through to purchase the better, because there is nothing better than a customer that is in the right frame of mind to purchase. It is your responsibility to get them to this state by the voice and descriptive language utilized on your landing page. Think about why the product you are promoting will be useful to the audience you are addressing. It is this very idea that makes it most useful for an affiliate marketer to possess an interest in the product and the subject matter; this familiarity will allow you, as the marketer to know exactly the right words to appeal to your audience, since, for all intents and purposes, they are your friends, others that share similar likes and interests as you. Making your landing page promotional and at the same time conversational should be your aim. By endearing yourself and the product you are promoting to your audience, you will be able to present your call to action (buy this) in a friendly way, resting assured that doing so will not alienate your reader or make them uncomfortable in any way. It will be most helpful to create several drafts of your landing page before deciding on which copy to go with ultimately. Allow friends or family members to read your page, offer suggestions, and ask questions. By being extremely focused on one product per landing page, you will increase your chances of making that product most attractive to viewers, motivating more sales, and increasing profits for yourself and your represented merchant.
