Playing on offense in Madden 09 is quite fun and addictive. Sometimes you forget about all the other phases of the game defense and special teams. Having an effective offense is key to scoring points allowing your defense to rest. The key to winning is to get points on every drive from your offense. When playing on offense you should always think touchdown first no matter what field position you have. Field goals will help you win games if you play good defense.
To kick a field goal or score a touchdown you must convert on third down. Converting on third downs are critical to keep drives alive and score points. Converting on third downs allow you tire out your opponents defense. It also keeps your defense off the field and keeps your opponents offense off the field. Another thing a lot of madden players don't practice is red zone offense. To score touchdowns in madden NFL 09 you must score in the red zone. Scoring in the red zone could be the difference between winning and losing. Turnovers can be the difference between winning and losing also. Running the ball on offense can demoralize a defense. You want to be balanced on offense running and throwing the ball. Running the ball effectively allows you to set up play action passes. This will force the CPU to put eight men in the box to stop the run.
That's when you go over the top and use play action running the ball effectively allowed you to do this. If you can't run the ball effectively you will be one dimensional. Mix up your play calling does who don't are easier to stop. Playing on offense will take time and practice if your a newbie. If you execute convert on third down and score touchdowns you will put up points. Make sure to practice in the red zone by using play action passes and use the shotgun formation.
Always remember to protect the football in the red zone and anywhere on the field. Turnovers will kill drives and cosy you the game. Sacks Will stop drives but it's better to take a sack then throw an interception in the red zone. Penalties will stop you from scoring points and stop you from moving the ball.
