When the dot-com boom first started, I decided to exploit software shopping in various forms. The first shopping cart software was primitive and clunky, but there was something fresh about it. It offered a novelty factor, and was somewhat of a niche market. In those times, only the geekiest and the most affluent were likely to engage in software shopping. The rest of the world was content with going down to their local store.


However, the software shopping market actually did a 180 degree change after a few years. It is now a very successful method of selling things, instead of being a niche market for the affluent. People can now easily get products directly from the manufacturer and often save money by shopping on the Internet. People have become more comfortable with spending because they know that they are saving money. If your software shopping programs are easy to use and your site makes a convincing pitch that the consumer is saving money, then your business will grow significantly in the near future.
