It is not uncommon for Multi-level Marketers to focus the majority of their efforts on the activity of recruiting new Associates, with little or no commitment to mentoring any new recruits. This will contribute to minimal duplication through an organisation and poor retention of Associates, so how can this issue be improved to give every rep in an organisation the best opportunity to be successful and who should take responsibility for coaching the entire group?

The idea of concentrating your efforts on coaching a group, even when your downline organisation is relatively small might seem counter intuitive, but I ask you to put this feeling to one side whilst you consider the advantages of having a comprehensive coaching system in place to help everyone, rather than just Associates that you personally enrol.


Every time a new distributor joins your organisation, the first thing that needs to happen is for them to realise that they are part of something huge! If a distributor joins your team and thinks that they are going to have to figure everything out on their own with only very basic coaching and little support then they will more than likely begin with hardly no motivation and excitement. This might be one of the major reasons why failure rates in the Multi-level Marketing industry are so high.

Unfortunately you can't always rely on every member in your organisation to give sufficient coaching and mentoring to keep a new distributor engaged and prepared to put in the necessary time and effort. This might be even more apparent as your downline becomes much bigger, which is why it is advantageous for you to acknowledge the responsibility of coaching all Associates in your downline (or all that are willing to learn!).


If you learn from any of the Multi-level Marketing industry leaders then this is exactly what you will see happening. Many of the leaders not only take on the job of coaching their own teams, but also accept the responsibility for coaching their followers who work for different organisations. The way that this can truly be fulfilled is by building an automated coaching system.

Note that you have a duty of responsibility to everyone in your business, but if you also find ways to coach other Associates outside of your company then the likelihood is that they will trust and like you. Therefore there is also a decent chance that they may make contact with you if they are unsupported in their current organisation and desire to develop a new organisation in a different company. Therefore the result of taking the time to coach other Associates can also improve your capacity to sponsor new Associates indirectly.


You might now be able to recognise the advantages of placing emphasis on developing an automated coaching system over concentrating on enrolling Associates, so consider altering your focus now to boost your performance later.
