Until recently, Ma huang was considered to be the most effective natural thermogenic (thermogenesis refers to the production of body heat in the muscles and fat and is tied directly to metabolism).
However, since 1994 the FDA has received and investigated over 800 reports of adverse effects associated with products containing Ma huang. Reported problems include elevated blood pressure, muscle disturbances, insomnia, dry mouth, heart palpitations, and nervousness.
The amines (nitrogen-containing compounds) in Advantra Z are not as lipophilic (fat-soluble) as those in Ma huang, so do not readily cross the blood-brain barrier. This means that the side effects to the cardiovascular and central nervous systems associated with Ma huang are reduced with Advantra Z.
Not only is Advantra Z a safer alternative to the many Ma huang-based products on the market, but preliminary studies indicate that Advantra Z may contain a more effective thermogenic agent than does Ma huang.
When used in conjunction with an established weight-control and exercise program, Advantra Z helps manage weight in two specific ways:
1. Increases thermogenesis: By increasing lipolysis and thermogenesis, AdvantraZ may enable the body to accelerate the removal of unwanted stores of fat.
2. Increases physical performance: During aerobic exercise the free fatty acids released from the body’s fat stores provide energy for and facilitate increased physical performance.
A unique amine composition that is unrivaled in the marketplace
Dr. Dennis Jones recently discovered that in certain states of maturity, Zhi shi contains a rare composition of adrenergic amines—synephrine, N-methyltyramine, hordenine, octopamine, and tyramine. While synephrine is best known, the others have demonstrated equally powerful thermogenic properties. Dr. Jones was able to achieve this unique amine composition at a high percentage (6 percent), a proportion unparalleled in other products in the marketplace.
Advantra Z Triggers Beta-3 Receptors The key to Advantra Z’s effectiveness is its ability to stimulate beta-3 receptors without negatively affecting alpha-1, alpha-2, and beta-2 receptors. This means that Advantra Z is able to increase the metabolic rate.*
The unique composition of adrenergic amines in Advantra Z causes the release of adrenaline and nonadrenaline—most likely in the vicinity of beta-3 receptor sites, which are found primarily in adipose tissue and the liver. Stimulation of these beta-3 receptors results in the breakdown of fat as well as an increase in the metabolic rate.*
Zhi shi is the immature dried fruit of Citrus aurantium, commonly referred to as bitter orange. For thousands of years, Zhi shi has been used in traditional Chinese medicine to maintain stomach and gastrointestinal health and to improve circulation and liver function.
This citrus fruit extract contains a family of organic compounds that promotes the use of energy substrates, stimulates metabolic
processes, increases the solubility of fats, and can act as a mild appetite suppressant.
Advantra Z derives from these fruits. The Zhi shi herb, in its natural state, can contain a mixture of these alkaloids of up to 0.8 percent. The Advantra Z formulation is much more potent at six percent. The alkaloids in Advantra Z appear to be gentler and as thermogenic than those in Ma huang. It is believed that the absence of these side effects and the mild nature of Advantra Z alkaloids result because they do not readily pass into the brain and because they may more specifically target fat cells.*
Actual Results With Advantra Z Results from an ongoing study at McGill University in Montreal, as well as feedback from users under “field” conditions, indicate that taking Advantra Z alkaloids—at normal levels—causes little or no central nervous system stimulation. In contrast, those who take Ma huang often report a “buzz,” which simply means that some of the alkaloids go to the brain instead of to the muscles and adipose tissue.
So far, volunteers in the McGill University study who took Advantra Z exhibited excellent increases in thermogenesis; however, they showed no increase in heart rate, blood pressure, or central nervous system stimulation. A recent independent clinical study also reported excellent weight-loss results from a substance containing Advantra Z, again, with no apparent side effects.
