FUN IN THE SNOW

There's lots of snow here in Michigan. About five miles from my home,
there is a public grounds for winter play. There are two hills. One is
for sledding. The other is used for snowmobiles (automatic snow sleds).
A few feet away from the bottom of the snowmobile hill, there is a pond
which freezes over in the winter and makes a great place to skate.

One nice day, a couple of friends and I decided to go skating there. I
was skating away to the music of the boombox that one of my friends
brought when I heard a man's voice yelling S _ _ T!!!! I stopped to
look. It was coming from the snowmobile hill. He got his sled all the
way to the top of the hill but at the top there was a bump that he
couldn't get over and his sled slid backwards all the way back to the

bottom.

I thought that was funny, but what was funnier is when he got off his
sled, took off his helmet and started to beat up the snow with his
helmet while yelling some obscene words. I stood there and laughed
hysterically.

He said, 'WHAT ARE YOU LAUGHING ABOUT, WOMAN?"

I was laughing too hard to speak so I kept on laughing and didn't answer
him, so he threw a snowball at me.

"Oh yeah," I said. I walked off the ice to the snow, packed up a
snowball and threw it back at him."

He threw another and I threw another and we had ourselves a good
snowball fight. The last one I threw hit him in the face. He turned his
head, grabbed his nose, and yelled, 'OW!" I thought I hurt him so I went
close to him and apologized.

He was fine. He said, "Are you sorry about hitting me with snowballs or

for laughing at me?"

I looked up at him and said humbly, "both."

He said, "My name is Dave. I saw you dancing over there. Would you like
to dance with me?"

I told him my name and said, "I would love to dance with you." Together
we went back to the ice pond and danced for hours.

My friends had long since gone home, and Dave offered to give me a ride
home on his snowmobile.

Dave and I have been together three years now. Once every year we go
back to the public grounds on his snowmobile. He has since been able to
get over the bump on the top of the hill but we always have a snowball
fight and dance on the ice when we are there.
