Mummy...Get Organized Please!!!

Imagine a situation like this: It's almost summer holiday and
your beloved son has been preparing for his end-of-the-year
choir performance for about two months. He is so excited about
the performance and would love to show you what he is capable
of doing on stage.

You know the importance of your son's performance but guess what?
You are late! - by 15 minutes - You have a more "important"
appointment to attend to and by the time you arrive to the
school gym, the performance is almost finished. To make things
worst, your son saw you arriving late which makes him devastated.
At this point, you know you have a lot of explaining to do to
your son.......

As a mother, a lack of time management skill can affect your
family life seriously. The status of women in today's society
is very unique. More women are working now than 20 years ago.
It is no longer strange to hear stories about stay-at-home dads
and working mums. In another word, the way in which your mum
handled her time 20 years ago is not applicable to your situation
today. Most parents today are struggling to find role models
to help them solve their time management problems.

Here are the tips that I have come up with that can help mums to
handle their time better. These tips could also help you balance
your family and working time.

1. Make sure your children understand that they have their
responsibilities at home- for example, putting their toys away,
getting the home work done for school, doing household duties
like cleaning the table. It is good to train them when they
are young. This can create a win-win situation for you and
your kids. They can learn to become more independent while
you can save yourself a lot of time.

2. If you are a working mum, pay for help with vacuuming, house
cleaning and other household duties. Understand that weekend is
for family time and not working time.

3. Set a goal and break it down into smaller tasks: Most goals
can be broken down into multiple smaller tasks, with smaller
goals. For instance, let's say that one of your goals is to
spend more time with your kids. Your first task is to find out
their schedules and decide which activities you want to
participate in. You may want to start off with attending their
soccer matches once every week. Later on, you may want to
consider going to a field trip with them. Achieve your smaller
goals step-by-step in order to reach your big goal. If you
don't break it down, it is very hard to get started.

5. Establish your priorities: Spend time to prioritize your
list of tasks. Always prioritize your goals and understand
which tasks are the most important to do first. Spend 80% of
you time doing the important activities.

6. Reward yourself: As you reach your goals, reward yourself
and your family! Allow yourself to take a day off from your
schedule and just have fun with them. It will give you something
to look forward to as you're working towards completing your tasks.

There you have it-- the tips for you to balance your work and
family life. Don't just read this, but also implement it
into your daily life and personally experience the results.

Can you afford to live without managing your time efficiently?
