Are you achieving everything you desire right now?

Goal achievement is essentially determining a desired outcome and establishing a set of processes and accountabilities to assist you attain that outcome.

Yet it’s also very important to understand what actions, choices and processes got us to where we are now. Essentially, what led us to this unfulfilled state.

This is important to know because we would rarely set ourselves the outcome of an unfulfilled life. So how did we get to this point HERE and NOW, where we are living a life less fulfilling than that which we would cognitively have desired?

The answer lies in certain predisposed human traits. Humans are logical creatures. We use our logic to determine our cognitive choices that ultimately influence the outcomes we achieve in life. If we make choices that are not founded or validated by our paradigm of logic, then we feel grossly uncomfortable and out of control.

Unfortunately, we don’t often use our logic in the most purposeful way to effect the most highly DESIRED outcomes. We most often use our logic in a manner that puts us on the most emotionally COMFORTABLE and HABITUALLY reasonable path. We then use it to VALIDATE our choices and outcomes.

Our logic is developed largely from our belief systems. When we are required to make a choice, we process various possible scenarios based on our beliefs. The choice we determine most ‘logical’ to us is the one that is most congruent with our belief system.

Our belief systems however are often very limiting. They’ve been dramatically influenced, and in most cases imported, by the belief systems of those around us, particularly throughout our formulative years.

Unless you are achieving EVERYTHING you want to achieve, it’s crucial that you accept that there are alternate ways. If what you are doing now has not produced the results you desire in life, you must do something different.

And here is the PARADOX! Because we often follow the path that we perceive to be the most suitable or logical, often to achieve what we desire requires us to do what we believe to be illogical.

This is the reason why doing things differently can at first feel awkward or uncomfortable, and why if you’re serious about achieving your goals that you MUST learn to operate outside your comfort zone.

A HUGE proportion of highly successful people commonly utilise this skill. They acknowledge that to achieve their desired outcomes requires them to TRAIN their logic systems. And in order to train their logic, they must firstly learn to question their logic, and in many instances NOT TRUST their logic.

Highly successful people are RESULTS ORIENTATED. If they try something, which may be based on their initial logic, and it doesn’t produce the results they want, they try something different. They don’t get attached to their logic and try to use additional logic to validate their initial choices. They simply recognise the fact that the process did not produce their desired outcome and hence try something else.

Over time, this process of outcome orientated validation ‘re-wires’ their logic and belief systems. They start to recognise that their perceived limitations are NOT TRUE limitations but actually learned limitations that have been endorsed through habit and comfort rather than beneficial results.

It’s for this reason that a Life Coach can be an extremely powerful ally. Often a Life Coach facilitates the process of questioning logic. They offer alternate ways of thinking and doing things. And they assist quantify results of processes. In this way a Life Coach assists their client to question old belief systems and habits, and develop more effective processes that produce more beneficial and desired outcomes.
