Tough financial times are far reaching sometimes, especially right now. Even the internet giant Yahoo has felt the effects. They have made the decision to shut down GeoCities. The website has been providing web hosting and guidance to newcomers. They didn't charge for the whole 10 years that they have been in the game. Yahoo decided that their time was past.

They put the news out about stopping the service in the middle of last summer. This gave people plenty of time to either close up shop and move on or they can use other new plans that are being offered. If you are determined to keep your your site open you can look at all the different paid plans that are offered. When November rolls around it will all be finished.

GeoCities made anyone with a site put a bunch of ads on it. With these emerging services that have a cost to use, you don't have to do the ads. There are so many different, fresh forms out there now for the use of social media that GeoCities is obviously outdated. This is more evident now than ever. It does deserve a place in history though, and the old stuff is being saved because of it.

GeoCities was bought by Yahoo in 1999. They paid almost 3 million dollars for it at that time. It was a pioneer back then and a very good investment. The technology does change and grow so quickly with the internet and computers that it is not surprising that things have progressed beyond what they created and did. It was a good tool for a long time.

You have to be able to keep up, and Yahoo has a a handle on that. There are always changes and ideas that are blossoming within the internet world. The ability to adapt your company to these changes is what makes some businesses more successful than others. You have to be able to keep up and Yahoo has been able to do this.

If you want the best web hosting you will need to pay a little amount of cash. There is plenty of good, reliable php hosting out there to be found.
