Massage works by sending electrical signals through the entire body. This increases circulation which clears waste products from bodily tissues. These electrical signals also boost the immune system as well as reduce pain and stress. During massaging, our natural pain killing substances, called endorphins, are produced which create a general sense of well being and calmness.
Massage is often used to assist healing, increase energy levels, shorten recovery time from an injury and to enhance relaxation. Massage is probably one of the best means of relieving chronic pain. Massage can be an adjunct treatment to almost any condition to include rheumatoid arthritis, cerebral palsy, parkinson's disease, and stroke.
Even though massage has wonderful benefits it isn't for eveyone. For example, people with congestive heart failure should avoid massage. Pregnant women should also consult with their physician first. If you are otherwise able to participate in such an indulgent and healthy activity like massage make it a part of your health and wellness lifestyle. A massage is like experiencing pain reduction, relaxation, a sense of well being, an increase in energy and an overall body health makeover all at the same time.
