There are many cosmetic surgery procedures that patients can seek to improve the appearance of the face. In fact, one particular procedure is growing in popularity rapidly. This procedure is known as blepharoplasty (aka cosmetic eyelid surgery) and it can work tremendously well as a means for dramatically improving one’s appearance.

For those that are in the public eye or simply wish to improve their appearance for personal reasons, blepharoplasty can provide huge benefits. But, in order to take advantage of the procedure, it is best to be an ideal candidate. Of course, this necessitates the matter of defining what exactly an ideal candidate is.

The ideal candidate is one who suffers from droopy or fatty eyelid bags that either present an unsightly appearance or impair a person’s vision. Those that lack the presence of these fatty eyelids really would not need to undergo blepharoplasty since there would be nothing to alter on such a candidate.

Also, it is important that the candidate is 18 years of age or older. When the candidate is under the age of 18, it would be premature to undergo such a procedure since the candidate’s physical appearance has not been fully developed. In general, most people who seek this procedure are over the age of 40, but those in their 20’s or 30’s should not feel excluded from undergoing the procedure.

It is critically important to point out the fact that those with serious eye conditions would not fall under the category of an ideal candidate. The reason for this is that it is best to avoid any procedures that may aggravate an eye condition or complicate the medical treatment of the condition. But, once steps are taken to reverse the eye condition, the patient can once again be considered an ideal candidate for cosmetic eyelid surgery. To learn more about this surgery, you need to speak with a cosmetic surgeon in your area.
