Los Angeles (L. A), the largest city in California, known as the shopper’s paradise, is also known for its international fame and global status. You can find ethnic specialty shops in Little Tokyo, Chinatown, East Los Angeles, Olvera Street, and in Koreatown. Well-known shopping areas in Los Angeles include Rodeo Drive/The Golden Triangle, Melrose Avenue, The Sunset Strip, Hollywood Boulevard, Robertson Boulevard, Beverly Boulevard, Downtown or Santee Alley, Westwood Village and many more.

The Rodeo Drive/The Golden Triangle, located in Beverly Hills, is the most expensive and famous shopping area in Los Angeles. The three blocks has a long stretch of shops and boutiques that showcase the most exclusive shops in the world. The designer clothing boutiques include Gucci, Armani, Christian Dior, Ralph Lauren, Coco Chanel, Valentino and others. The town also has jewelry shops; Tiffany and Cartier. ‘Bijan’, a famous fashion store in the world; a visitor should make an appointment in advance to shop at Bijan. An exclusive woman’s clothing store, Boulmiche, and other shopping stores like Neiman Marcus, Yves Saint Laurent, Pierre Deux and Saks Fifth Avenue.

Robertson Boulevard is a small street running a short distance from the Rodeo drive. Hideaway house, an antique store, has the Trendy Store, Kitson Boutique, Ghost, Curve, Lisa Kline; shops for men and women; a trendy shoe store, Madison, and for quality mattresses, you have the Royal Pedic store. Cosmetics can be purchased at Mac store and designer stores include Maxfield Bleu, Agnes B., Diavolina and others.

Melrose Avenue is a bizarre shopping area in Los Angeles, famous for trendy small shops with curious names like ‘A Star is Worn’, ‘Warbabies’, ‘Some Crust: the Bakery’, ‘Retail Slut’ and ‘Wacko’. The famous book store, The Golden Apple, is located here. For kids, the Super Max store offers a number of different kinds of baseball caps with different logos and wind-up toys and music boxes can be purchased at ‘The Wound & Wound Toy Company’. Apart from many designer shops for men and women, famous accessories stores here are Jonathan Adler, Tarina Tarantino and Agent Provocateur. Antique dresses and clothes can be purchased at shops like ‘Time After Time’ and ‘Wasteland’.

The Farmer’s Market and Shopping Village in downtown offer fresh food items in stores and import shops. The Westwood village is known for pedestrian shopping areas. The Sunset Strip located at the Sunset Boulevard is famous for shopping and entertainment. Virgin Megastore, the famous music and video store is stocked with numerous videos, CDs, DVDs and 100 listening stations. At Sunset Plaza, you will find a western-style clothing shop called Billy Martin’s.

The Hollywood/Highland at Hollywood Blvd, a five-storey shopping and entertainment centre, is one of the glitziest shopping center in Los Angeles. The Grove, an upper scale shopping market, is situated near the Third Street and Fairfax Avenue.

Downtown Santa Monica, a bayside shopping district in Los Angeles, has nearly 200 shops for clothing, shoes, gifts and home furnishings. The famous Third Street Promenade, an outdoor, pedestrian shopping area has boutiques that include Aero & Co and Polka Dots & Moonbeams, antique stores, specialty stores and trendy shops like Milk, Scout, Satine and South Williard.

Los Angeles is home to all kinds of shopping from very upscale shopping at Rodeo Drive to affordable shopping at Downtown Los Angeles.
