The floor of the home is covered with straw or wood chips. This is used to take hold of the waste that the chickens make and to make it easier when cleaning it out. At one end of the construction is a small door and an outside run that will offer the chickens the opportunity to go outside and acquire some fresh air.
Farmers think that this construction is assistive at granting the chickens a safe place for them to live, sleep, and lay eggs without being exposed to harsh weather conditions. Yet, there are others who think that this structure is restrcitive to them and is something that is difficult for the chickens to handle.
It is for this reason that they will use lots of ventilation. This will aid to get rid of bad aromas and model the environment outdoors. The ventilation must be maintained so nothing is blocking the flow of air even during the winter months.
Farmers think that while ventilation serves to keep harmful bacteria from growing within the chicken house too much of it can hurt the animals. They do not believe that the chicken is able to hold up against the harsh weather of cold, poor drafts, and rain.
