Originally a fishing town, Shanghai today is China’s largest city and an epicentre of the nation’s development. The city is located along the banks of the Yangtze River on the central eastern coast of China. A popular tourist destination, Shanghai features an absolute gamut of captivating attractions that include historic sites such as the Bund and the City God Temple and modern attractions such as the Oriental Pearl Tower, Jin Mao Tower and the Shanghai World Financial Centre.

Surprisingly though, for such a bustling city Shanghai’s nightlife is not loud and chaotic. Instead, the Shanghai nightlife is almost gentle, elegant, colourful and definitely refined in most places. The Bund is a must visit place at night. The city’s buildings are set alight and the entire Shanghai skyline transforms itself in to one gigantic kaleidoscope of colour. River cruises are also available in the vicinity of the Bund for visitors to witness this rare spectacle.

For those who prefer a bit more action in the nocturnal activities can make a beeline along the popular Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street, featuring many brightly lit shops and eating houses. Most tea houses in Shanghai are open 24 hours and are busy with patrons round the clock. Nightclubs, discos, Karaoke joints and coffee houses are also quite popular with the younger crowd. Some of these popular hotspots include the ARK Live House music restaurant and bar and the Ven Ice coffee bar. The Hengshan Road was where the city’s first bars were opened and to this day the area boasts of a myriad of bars and taverns thronging with customers.

The Maoming South Road where the Judystoo, Babyface and the Colors and Face clubs are hosted and the fashionable Xin Tian Di area are also popular nocturnal gathering places in Shanghai.

A truly iconic structure in the heart of Shanghai, The Langham Yangtze Boutique Shanghai offers guests and absolutely exclusive experience. One look at this awesome art deco hotel in Shanghai , and you’d realise instantly that the luxurious accommodation facilities and service levels can seldom be matched elsewhere.
