Love is comic strip collection is famous in the whole wide world. These soul-warming illustrations have gained kindly feelings of millions of people thanks to their innocence and simplicity.
"Love is..." comic strip collection was created by New Zealand artist Kim Grove in the late 1960s. The beginning to the strip of amusing pictures was laid by a certain number of love notes for her fiance. Love is… illustrations were published not only in newspapers, but the most popular were printed on cards and souvenirs as well.
All Love is… illustrations have a similar design. The beginning of a phrase that gave the name to the whole comic strip collection "Love is…" is printed in the top left-hand corner of the illustration. In the middle of the illustration there is a nice drawing. And under the picture there is the remainder of the phrase whose meaning is reflected on the drawing.

There are 2 leading characters that appear on every illustration - sweethearts, a male and a woman. They look like kids, but at the same time they represent grown-ups at different stages of romance - from the day they met each other through being a boyfriend and a girlfriend to a married couple having children that make their appearance on the pictures every now and then. Amid other personages that are pictured every now and then there are also parents of a male and a woman. The introduction of different members of the family assists in mirroring all the sides of love.

The key characters are usually together, but still, every now and then they show up alone. If one of them is thinking about the other, the face of his partner may appear in a dream balloon, on a photo, or a screen saver. There are also several pictures where other men or women are showed. A special characteristic is that these people look absolutely different than the main personages. And one more supporting character is a dog that symbolizes common house and home cosiness. Furthermore, the majority of the items on a drawing are heart-shaped. It is a symbol of the comic collection's theme.

Today's "Love Is..." comic pictures, as seen in newspapers and magazines all over the world, are accessible in an on-line archive. It's kind of an effort to stretch Valentine's Day romance through the year. Individual illustrations are becoming e-mail cards and may be forwarded free to a special friend.
