Loosing teeth is a natural process and a part and parcel of ageing. However, there are methods available that can save you from the embarrassment and also return back your glorious smile. Not only ageing, but accidents and teeth infection can also result in loss of teeth. Prevention and care can be taken to prolong this phenomenon, however, it cannot be avoided. Two most commonly used methods are dental implants and dentures.

Cosmetic dentistry has advanced and improved a great deal. Earlier, dentures were the only available method to deal with loss of teeth. Now, implants are a better and most preferred option, as it lacks the shortcomings of dentures.

Dental Implants Vs Dentures:

Some time back, Dentures were the only available option for people to cope up with loss of teeth. Though they were cost effective still they were not best of option.

Dentures do allow the person to eat to an extent, make up for the empty spaces where teeth used to be and allows you to get by some how. You could chew with them but it was a very inconvenient process. They are not good looking as they are very artificial in looks. They stand out from your real teeth and looks awkward. They are inconvenient as they are not permanently fixed and can land you in awkward and embarrassing situations when they fall out while you are eating or you laugh too loudly and excitedly.

On the other hand, Dental Implants are an improved technology, though not a new one. They look like your real teeth and easily blend in with them rather than prominently and sheepishly standing out like a fool from the crowd. Not only do they look real, they even feel real. As they are permanently fixed into your gums like real teeth, they have a good hold and feel real. As they are permanently fixed, there will be no embarrassing situations with your false teeth falling out. Thus, you can smile and laugh confidently!

The process of fixing these implants is simple though technologically advanced. First Titanium parts are soldered in the jaw line and then the tooth is fixed on top of it. Titanium makes for a strong base.
Earlier, when only dentures were available, people had to get their good teeth also pulled out, so that dentures can be fit in. this was a painful process. However, with these implants you can cover up only the desired gaps and missing tooth. Moreover, you can also get them fixed by a relatively fast a d almost painless method, called sleep dentistry. In this process, a calming oral sedative is administered and the patient enters a stage of relaxation. This helps in lowering the pain of the process, and an hour long process just takes about ten minutes!
These implants are expensive, however, they are worth every hard earned penny you spend on them, as they provide you extreme comfort and saves you from embarrassment.
