How did you become concerned in your present ministry?
In late 1987, I extraordinarily providentially discovered that following the high court choices in 1962-1963 removing voluntary school prayer and Bible reading from public faculties that academic accomplishment scores plummeted, student crime surged, and measures of student ethics skyrocketed ( e.g, teen pregnancies, STD rates, and so on. ). I also revealed that early court rulings on issues we face today ( e.g, prayer in public, Bible reading in schools, public pornography, and so on. ) were exactly the exact opposite of those rendered by courts today. Those early courts cited the first writings of the Founding Fathers, and on reading those scribblings, I found that they contradicted much of what I had been taught about history. We therefore began to collect original documents and now have in our library some 70,000 documents predating 1812 which unquestionably document not only our non secular, moral, and constitutional heritage generally, but our Christian heritage in particular.
what's been the best example of law deviating from its original intent?
An illustration of the changes in law may be seen in the life of Charles Finney, one of America's best known revivalists, active in the Second Great Awakening. In his autobiography, Finney reports that he intended to be a counsel, and as he read the well-liked law books of his day, those texts also presented the Biblical concepts on which the laws were based. In the midst of studying the law texts, Finney read such a lot of the Bible that he changed into a Christian and received his call to the ministry.
Another example is seen in James Wilson, a signer of the Constitution and an original Justice on the U. S. Supreme Court, credited with beginning the first arranged legal coaching in America for law students. Wilson taught scholars :
Made for men or for nations, flows from the same Divine source : it's the law of Almighty God. What we do, indeed, must be founded on what he has done ; and the deficiencies of our laws must be supplied by the perfections of His.
Today , however , Christianity and the law have become rivals and enemies. Chambers, the jury sentence of a man convicted and sentenced by a jury for taking an axe handle and savagely clubbing to death a 71-year-old girl in order to scouse borrow her Social Security check was reversed by the court as the prosecuting attorney - in a press release that lasted less than five seconds - had discussed a Bible verse in the courtroom.
