To play golf, one needs to be familiar with several pieces of golf equipment including golf balls, golf clubs for hitting the golf balls, devices that help in hitting the ball accurately, and other items that can help enrich a golfer’s playing experience. The success of players on the course largely depends on the quality of their golf equipment.

Golf Clubs

During an official game, players can only carry a maximum of fourteen clubs, and all these clubs should be created in a way that complies with the set standards or rules. They can either be woods, irons or putters. Golfers often use irons for long shots from the fairways and the rough. For long shots from the tee, fairway and sometimes from the rough, they can use woods. For comparatively shorter shots, they can use wedges. Putters are often used on the greens and for making approach shots.

Hybrid clubs are now available in the market. They combine the advantages found in irons and woods. They are usually used for long shots from the rough especially when players have a hard time bringing the ball airborne.

Other Golf Equipment

A tee is a wooden or plastic object that is pushed into the ground to put a ball on so players can have an easier shot. Tees can only be used for the first stroke of each hole. Wood tees are not expensive and can be disposed after one time use. Plastic tees are more expensive than wood tees but last longer.

A golf bag is very useful for golfers as they help these players carry their clubs around. Golf bags are cylindrical in shape and are constructed around a plastic metal frame. They are made from strong and durable materials such as nylon. They have several pockets or compartments where golfers can put in supplies and equipment that they need on the course. These bags can be slung over the shoulders, pulled by the handles or fastened on to a golf cart.

Clubhead covers are useful in protecting clubs from scratching each other while inside the golf bag. These covers are helpful in prolonging the lifetime of clubheads as well as in making each club easily identifiable from all the other clubs in the bag.

All these equipment can be bought at several sports equipment retail outlets as well as in specialty shops like Callaway Golf.
