Using an infant sling carrier is becoming more and more popular everyday. It can benefit parents and infants tremendously in many different ways. When I first saw an infant sling carrier being used by someone in the neighborhood, I actually thought it seemed a bit silly. "Instead of wearing your infant, why don't you just hold them?" I thought. When I had an infant come into my own life, I soon realized the answer to that question. It is because infants require continuous attention. It can be extremely physically taxing when you spend most of the day and night carrying your infant. Suddenly, the question became reversed. "Instead of always carrying your baby, why don't you wear them sometimes?". For the first time, I appreciated the true brilliance of the infant sling carrier. Here are ten reasons why parents of infants should consider using an infant sling carrier.

- It can dramatically reduce the amount your infant cries. Studies have proven that babies who are carried cry 43% less (on average) than babies who are not carried, and 51% less during the evening. This means that using an infant sling carrier and being able to hold your infant even when your exhausted, can basically cut your child's crying in half.

- You can nurse your infant in public. Most infant sling carriers have an elastic quality that allows them to stretch. You can easily pull the sling up and over your infant's head to nurse while on a park bench, in a cab, taking a walk or wherever you may be. Even with the slings that don't stretch, you can still position it to cover you and your infant and maintain your privacy.

- You have the freedom to do whatever you choose. While your infant is in the sling you can carry on with things that need to be done around the house, or simply enjoy your time and take a walk.

- Infant sling carriers are suitable from birth to about 3 years old, arguably the most difficult years of a child's life. You can make those years a bit easier with the sling.

- It evenly distributes the infant's weight around your upper body, as opposed to carrying your infant and the weight wearing down your arms in no time. Carrying can be brutal, and extremely physically taxing. Infant sling carriers are built to be worn for several hours a day.

- Using a sling promotes attachment. Spending a lot of time with your infant near you makes them feel closer to you. They can develop a sense of attachment to their caregiver which will strengthen the bond between you both.

- Infant sling carriers help the infant's physical development. While you wear your infant around your body, they become in tune with your breathing, talking and walking very quickly. These rhythms can bring your infant up to speed faster.

- Infant sling carriers help the infant's emotional development. When your baby spends a lot of their time in a good mood, it makes for a healthier emotional development. Constant crying during their infancy can lead to stress when your infant grows older.

- Infant sling carriers help the infant's mental development. Much of the time, your infant will be in a calm, comfortable and collective state of mind while in the sling. This is ideal for learning. Since they are seeing the world from your point of view rather than from a crib or bassinet, they can soak up all that is around them.

- With all this time spent together in a relaxed and comfortable state of mind, you and your infant can enjoy each day much more. A child's infancy is a beautiful thing. Using an infant sling carrier can make it much less difficult, and therefore, a more memorable experience
