In early 1982 the music industry was revolutionized with the introduction of the compact disk. These little metal discs changed the way we store and listen to music. Long gone were the days of the cassette tape, vinyl record and eight tracks. The wave of the future was here and it was all thanks to the men who invented the CD Player.

Just Who Created the Amazing CD Player?

The compact disc player was created in 1982.
1.Two media power houses, Philips and Sony, joined forces to create a new form of digital audio media storage.
2.The team was lead by two team leaders: Toshitada Doi and Kees Immink.
3.Philips was set to take care of the process of manufacturing the new disks used by the player
4.Sony agreed to take care of the error correction method

5. Philips often states the belief that it was not one man who invented the CD player; it was a group of people working together. That without the team effort the compact disc would not be here today

The Impact of the Compact Disc

1.The compact disc changed the way that music is produced, stored and listened to. Originally a new compact disc cost a consumer just under $20.00, but advanced in technology has seen a falling in the prices.
2.Compact disc did not just change the way we listen to music, they also revolutionized the computer industry. Very similar technology is now used to store computer programs, files and other data.
3.The men who invented the CD changed the face of media storage.

The invention of the compact disc player in 1982 by a team of engineers from Philips and Sony changed the face of music and digital storage. It is funny to consider wondering if the men who invented the CD player had any idea the vast impact it would have on the entire world. There is not a home, car or office that does not use this technology on a daily basis for media storage and audio playback.
