If It Looks Good Don’t Touch It!

U.S. sociologist Barry Glassner, author of the bestselling book The Culture of Fear, has written The Gospel of Food: Everything You Think You Know About Food Is Wrong. His words are a good reminder to you to get your hands out of the cookie jar!

A self-described "slow-food" gourmand who says he's never had a weight problem, Mr. Glassner is a surprising defender of fast food in the current debate about obesity, says The Seattle Post-Intelligencer. He cites one food myth that he's identified: the "doctrine of nought" -- the idea that if too much of something is bad for you, then eliminating it entirely must be good for you. He says studies show we get more nutritional value from foods we enjoy.

This brings up a good point. Can you ever have too much of a bad thing? Yes! Munching an entire pizza on a diet is having too much of a bad thing. Like Glassner says, eliminate it! When it comes to food and obesity, proportion is key, but elimination is best.
