Even though you may not have a need for it now does not mean the need will not arise. You just never know when that cable will come in handy. You would be surprise how expensive some of them are. It would be best to separate them by there usefulness, but in all honesty it would be best to keep them all. If you are one of those clean freaks that are bothered by your spouse's desire to keep all of those cables you could just neatly tuck them away in a box and put on top of a shelf in a closet for safe keeping and but out of the way of people thinking you a clutter bug. if you are a type of person that is troubled by having the cables hang down the wall from the equipment to the surge protection in the outlet try using plastic zip ties, this would work as well anything and it is a very inexpensive to do.

Now if you plan on undoing them at a later date you would probably need to cut them off but in a way that is good if you have small children as this way it makes it very tough for small children to undo them. You also may want to think twice about throwing away small cable boxes, the box someday could serve other purposes down the road for you.

Another thing that is worth hanging onto is the indoor phone cable. Yes it is a cheap item but if you have more then one phone in the house and dial up internet service you will find a lot of old phone cable in the house yes it's true most people have wireless or cable for internet so you don't see a high need for phone cable but it could always be use for a fax or something else in the future.

So just remember that there may be a need someday for these different types of cables so make sure you store it in an area that is easy to find.
