Very few people know about string breast enhancements. Although they were available in the past, they are not currently approved by the FDA.

So what is a string breast implant? It is a breast implant manufactured from polyurethane or from pure polypropylene. Due to its’ inherent properties, these enhancements were intended for use by women wanting an exceptionally large breast size. This is achieved by virtue of the fact that the implant continues to grow in size after it is placed inside the breast. This usually results in extremely large breasts. They in fact hold the record for the greatest increase in breast size achieved through surgical means.

Developed by Dr G.W. Johnson, these enhancements were only available for breast augmentation for a short period of time before the FDA banned their use. The polyurethane absorbs fluids and increases in size within the body. This results in a continual growth in the breast size over a period of time. It was usually only those involved in the adult entertainment industry who considered utilising this form of breast augmentation device.

Although considered a novelty, polypropylene has been successfully used in other medical procedures for over 35 years. No approval has as yet been sort for polypropylene based breast enhancements although they have been used successfully for this purpose. String breast enhancements are considered to be superior to saline and silicone enhancements in some medical circles. Doctors reported that they have not had capsular contracture in any of the patients who have received these enhancements. Patients also reported more naturally feeling breasts. By injecting saline into the breast during surgery, the breast is firmed up. Over time the saline is absorbed and the body fills the cavity with serum. This gives a more natural feel and appearance to the breast.

If the body produces too much serum and the breast becomes too firm, the excess can be drained with a syringe. In the case of too little serum filling the cavity, additional saline is injected into the breast. The process of augmenting the breast using string is similar to that used in conventional surgery. It is usual to place the implant in the subglandular position.

The use of string breast enhancements is not usually considered an alternative to the more common silicone or saline ones. The FDA does not currently consider these enhancements safe for use and therefore it is highly unlikely that you would consider them as a viable alternative.
