Mobile phones are vital for vast majority of the population these days. Everyone from school children to pensioners seems to have a mobile phone. According to some stats there are more mobiles in the UK than people.

On average people upgrade their mobile every 18 months because the features of mobiles are constantly being improved so before you know it your phone is old and out of date. Buying a mobile phone is a more complicated task that just picking up the most feature rich or slimmest looking device around. There are lots of mobile phone brands to choose from; Nokia, LG, Sony Ericsson, Motorola, Samsung and more. Plus in the near future Apple will be launching the Apple iPhone, which is predicted to be a market leader. Nokia is still the leading brand and therefore the safest choice, however both Sony Ericsson and Samsung have recently launched some excellent mobile phones, which are definitely worth considering.

Then there are the mobile phone networks to consider. Currently the market leader is O2, which was previously owned by BT the leading telecommunications company in the UK. 02 are an excellent network but it is also worth considering the other leading networks, which are: T-mobile, Orange, 3, Virgin Mobile. Vodafone. In terms of value for money, T-mobile offer the best tariff, which is called Flext 35. For £35 per month you are given a £180 allowance, which can be spent on text, mins or a combination of the two. At the cheaper end of the market 3 offer the best tariffs. They have two tariffs which are only £15 per months, for which you get 500 mins, or 675 texts and 50 mins.

When choosing a new phone some people go for the looks but you should also look for features and performance in a mobile phone along with the design. There are hundreds of mobile phones available in the market, so I recommend that you do some research on the features and the best deals available around before making a final decision, I recommend google for doing research. As they say knowledge is power.

The key questions to ask yourself before buying a new mobile phone contract are:
1) What network do you want to be on?
2) What features do you want?
3) Do you want it to be an MP3 player?
4) Do you need a digital camera with 3 mega pixles+?
5) Is size and weight important?
6) What is your budget?
7) Do you need to access the internet and emails from you mobile phone?

Finally, don’t forget to consider how long the phone can last on standby and how much talk time you have before having to recharge it. Having a long talk time could save you a lot of time and frustration, but if you do not talk on your phone a lot, it may not be necessary.

It may seems like a lot of hassle, but considering that you will use your mobile multiple times everyday for up three years it is worth investing a few hours in choosing which of the mobile phones is right for you!
