Hawaii offers many incredible places to snorkel. So if you’re into snorkeling,
Kauai will be your little piece of Heaven on earth. Its crystal clear blue water
allow you to see easily and the natural beauty leaves you with an impression
you'll never forget.

One place in particular offering awesome snorkeling opportunities is Anini.

Here you can find the largest reef on Kauai. With all of the underwater locations
to explore around the reef, you won't be left wondering what to do. You could spend
days exploring all there is to see, because the tropical fish and marine life make
for an interesting excursion.

The water in most places on Anini Beach is fairly shallow and this makes it a great place
for beginners. Even though the water is shallow, the tide can be very powerful

at certain times, so if it’s your first time, be careful. While it's great place for beginners,
more experienced snorkeling enthusiast will feel right at home on Anini Beach. There
truly is something for everyone at Anini.

The reef is large enough that it affects the waves coming in at all times. What this
means is the water is calm much of the time and these are great conditions
for those who like to snorkel.

If you’ve ever tried to snorkel in large waves, it’s not an easy task because the calmer the water, the better.
While it is calm on most areas of the beach, watch out for the outer edge of the reef, because the reef can create some fairly large breaking waves.
The reef is also sharp with numerous slippery rocks as well. However, if you stay in the center of the reef,

it's generally very calm.

Anini Beach is also very easily accessible. You can drive right up to the public parking area
on the edge of the beach. Public restrooms and showers are available so you won’t feel like
you’re on a deserted island. Just enjoy the peace and the beauty.

An interesting fact about Anini beach is that it wasn't always called Anini. In was once
referred to as Wanini. Then in 1992 a hurricane knocked the “W” off of the sign and instead of
replacing the sign, they just started referring to the beach as Anini. If that doesn’t support the
“hang loose” philosophy of Hawaii, nothing does.

When you visit Kauai, be sure to invest a day of your trip at Anini Beach. The snorkeling

is great and the natural beauty is even better. Just be sure to bring your snorkeling gear.
