The Costa Blanca – The Costa Blanca is located on the south-eastern coast of Spain and comprises around 200 km of coastline and a large hinterland. Better known for the glitzy resorts such as Benidorm, it actually has much more to offer than just sun, sea and sand. There are some great places to visit including ancient towns and cities, remote mountain top villages and beautiful natural parks.
Finding a Flight – While it has always been possible to book your own flights when taking a holiday, in recent years this has become a more common practise. With most households these days having internet access, booking flights is both easy and quick. The main airports for the Costa Blanca are Alicante and Murcia (San Javier), Alicante is convenient for the whole of the Costa Blanca, while Murcia is better for the southern area and for the Costa Calida. Don’t book your flight until you have chosen your holiday.
Choosing a Location – The choice of location for your holiday will depend somewhat on the type of holiday you are seeking. Is it a quiet, relaxing holiday, a touring holiday, a late night partying holiday or a family holiday with the kids? Check out some of the excellent information sites on the internet or read a decent guide book and be sure to look at a map as well, some Costa Blanca rentals are advertised as “near to the beach” but you may have to hire a car to get there!
Finding a Property – Take my word for it, there is an enormous amount of Costa Blanca rental property out there for you to choose from. Once again you don’t need to leave the house to perform this task as the internet will provide all the resources you need. Load up your favourite search engine (Google perhaps?) and type in the words “Costa Blanca Rentals”, you may have to plough through a number of sites to find suitable properties in your chosen location but it is great fun and very rewarding, because you are in control. Check with street maps to make sure your chosen property is ideally situated (again you can find maps of most places on the web).
Booking – After you have spent some time looking at all the possible Costa Blanca rentals, you should make up a short list of your favourite properties, you can then contact the owners or relevant companies to check on availability and price. A deposit will be required to secure a booking but before you pay this make sure that there are flights available at an affordable price and on the correct days. You can then go ahead and pay a deposit for your holiday – ask for speedy confirmation, so that you can go ahead and book your flights as well.
Alicante and Murcia Airport Transfers – Depending on the location of your holiday property in relation to your destination airport, you may need to organise an airport transfer. This can be easily done online and there are a number of companies providing this service. Give then the exact address and location of your holiday property and get an accurate quote, you can then rest easy that you will be met at the airport by a friendly face and taken straight to your accommodation.
Preparing for Your Holiday – The old style package holidays didn’t just consist of rooms, flights and transport, most of them also included some sort of itinerary for your stay, perhaps some sightseeing and organised trips. You can also do this for yourself and once again you can use the vast resource of the internet. Search for some tourist information on the area and check out recommended attractions, you may even be able to pre-book tickets, also you will want to find a good road map to help you find your way around and to locate beaches, commercial centres and other facilities.
Bon Voyage and Bien Viaje – You can now be happy that you have planned your Costa Blanca holiday to perfection, I wish you a safe journey and a great vacation.
