Once you determine that you are going to submit your page to a web directory. Your next question will be if you should deep link or not. First let’s cover what deep linking is. Deep linking is a process by which a link is generated to a specific page within a domain, rather than linking to the main home page of the website.

The decision to deep link or not, should be based on the needs of your site and what content is relevant. You will want to deep link to a partictiular page of your site to a web directory, if the category you are linking to is relevant only to that page of the site. That should be the ONLY page linked because it contains the relevelant information the searcher seeks. Once you determine what you want your audience to see what they link to your site. You will be able to better determine if you should deep link or not to deep link. As I said, determine what your needs are. What you want the audience to retrieve first and what your sites represents to the audience you are targeting. Doing this will answer the question to deep linking or not.

If everyone on your site is relevant to the category you are linking in to then linking directly to your home page is a better choice to take. Of course, your home page is an important page to your site, and you do want people to see that when they visit. But if it isn’t relevant to what the searches needs, doing a deep link will make your site more user friendly.

One of the purposes of back linking and submitting your links to a web directory is to bring traffic to your website. As well as to increase your page ranking with the search engines. The most important part of linking is linking to relevant site and the content of the site.
