The Importance of Keyword Research and Keyword optimization
Keywords are how people find websites on search engines, people search for information and are lead to the most relevant website to the search typed in. This is why I would recommend you do your keyword research and keyword optimization. You want people lead to your website.
Finding the perfect set of keywords that will bring your website quality traffic can be very frustrating especially if you're a newbie to the internet marketing scene, keyword optimization can make or break your website in the search engine game. This is why keyword research is vital.
Keyword optimization plays a very important part, especially if you want to be found on search engines like Google, Yahoo and MSN. All of these are grate sources for traffic but in order to make the most out of these sources your creativity will be required too!
Here is a list I have put together to help you with your keyword research.
Keyword Length
Your keywords should be 2 - 4 words. Single terms are too broad, competitive and I tend to find the traffic quality is not as good as more specific terms.
Have this in mind, when you're on the web desperately searching for a service, product or information you need. Your search terms tend to be more specific and these are the web surfers who are more interested in what you have to offer, this is referred to as quality traffic.
The length of your keywords depends on how well it describes your website, product or service.
Make Yourself a Keyword List
Brain storm all the keywords and phrases that you think the web surfer will use to find your website. Research your keyword list. You need to know how many searches are being done for each keyword.
This gives you a better idea of how popular each of your keywords are. This is a very important part to your keyword research. You can use Overture FREE Keyword Selector Tool to help build your keyword list.
Related searches that include your term
Estimated number of times that term was searched on last month.

TIP: Type these terms in Google, Keyword suggestion tool and Keyword research tool, you may find some useful tools. The internet is a grate place to learn.
Picking Profitable Keywords
A cretin keyword may have more searches but less relevance to your website. Automatically you think more searches = more visitors = more sales, so you select it. If your main objective is to convert that traffic into sales and want to build a long term business online, this is the wrong way to bring in traffic especially if you're just starting out.
It takes a mixture of relevance and searches to find the perfect keyword, you will end up with a group of keywords that will give you a better chance for ranking higher on search engines with a good flow of quality traffic.
Here Are Some Benefits:
*Less competitive
*Will give you a good range of traffic with decent quality
*Easier to improve search engine rankings
*Better sales conversions
Here is a made up example so you can see the point I am trying to get at, let's say your website sells Men's shoes.
Keywords With Monthly Searches
*Shoes: 51,000
*Designer Shoes: 39,000
*Mens Shoes: 8,000
*Mens designer Shoes: 6,000
Let's say for example 2% of the 51,000 searches done for shoes could be men actually looking to buy shoes. So that might bring in 1200 visitors if you hold no.1 spot on all major search engines.
Do not forget, web surfers using broad terms are generally just browsing, they are technically window shopping.
The keyword Shoes is not as good as it appears when you think about it logically.
This is quite a simple example, as all you have to do is add mens in front but I am sure you can see what I am trying to get at. You're more likely to make sales from the last two terms as they will bring in traffic that's actually interested in what you have to offer.
There are a lot of things to consider before finalizing your keywords list.
Placing Keywords in The Body of Your Webpage
At this point, I would recommend you write your webpage as normal but with your keywords in the back of your mind. Once you've finished your webpage read and analyse it, because this is where you put your keywords in.
There are tactics to placing keywords I will tell you a few of them
1. Place Most Relevant keyword in the Title.
2. Place your keywords in 3 times to every hundred words.
3. Try to place top playing keywords within the first paragraph.
Please Note: The more you research there more you will find out these are only a few tactics. The internet is a grate place for free information.
Your webpage text will require slight modification when placing keywords please remember it needs to make sense for humans and search engines. If it does not make sense, search engines will pick up on this and think your keyword spamming resulting in lower rankings.
I would just like to finish by saying as long as you're patient, persistent and willing to learn, you will crack the internet success code.
Doing your research, being strategic with creativity mix in, is the best fuel to use to succeed on your journey.
Good luck with your keyword research.
