Saunas help us producing perspiration and eliminating toxins through our skin pores, being this way beneficial to our health. But, many times we do not feel attracted by the idea of going into a room to sweat along with other unknown people, and the possibility to do it in the comfort and privacy of our home can be very appealing.

We lose approximately a third of our bodies waste through our skin pores and by our perspiration, being this effect which causes saunas to be beneficial to our health and so popular. This way, building a sauna in your home can be a way to improve your health, but also count with a space in which you can relax without being surrounded by unknown people.

There are different options for a home sauna. The most traditional option is making them of wood, but they can also be made of plastic or they can even be portable, such as it happens with infrared saunas. Through infrared rays, infrared saunas create the required warmth a sauna needs to be efficient, without using heated steam as traditional systems would. The heat produced by infrared sauna rays can be compared to the sun, but without the risks nowadays being exposed to the sun imply. Despite of this, being exposed more than recommended to infrared sauna rays can be harmful and should be avoided.

Infrared saunas generate heat directly on the skin, and therefore there is no need to use steamed heat in the surrounding area. Besides this, and according to experts, infrared home saunas are safer than the traditional ones and can penetrate into the body about 1.5 inches more than the others, causing this way a healing and therapeutic effect.

But, traditional home saunas can be a great choice too, and provide a great environment for relaxation. In any case, it is always important to avoid overusing them since this can lead to health complications, such as hyperthermia or heat prostration. Therefore, if you use a home sauna, make sure of knowing how to do it properly and avoid using it more than is recommended.
