I know one thing I wish I would have put more thought into for my wedding, was my wedding shoes.

I had found a very pretty pair of satin, ballet style flats. I'm tall and my husband, well... not so tall. I did try them on and they did fit, but I didn't really consider the fact that I was going to be spending an awful lot of time on my feet, walking down the aisle, the exchanging of vows, dancing at the reception, etc... . Not only that, but when you're a plus size bride it is even more taxing to be on your feet for long periods of time, especially in the wrong shoes.

With that in mind, here are some tips to help you choose your wedding day shoes wisely.

1. If you have never worn high heels in your life, your wedding day is not the best time to try it out. Yes they are pretty, but there are plenty of flat and low heeled shoes that are just as beautiful.

2. About ten days or so before the big day, put on your new shoes and walk around in them a little each day to break them in. Don't wear them to go shopping or anywhere where they could get dirty or damaged, just around the inside of your house.

3. Consider adding a pair of orthopedic insoles to your wedding shoes. They now have some that blend really well into open toe or sandal style shoes.

4. It might be a good idea to take along an extra pair of shoes that you already wear and that you know are comfortable. Change into them at the reception if you plan on doing a lot of high steppin'.

5. Don't forget to choose appropriate shoes for the venue of your wedding. Outdoors in a grassy area that has moisture could stain certain shoes.(Not to mention the bottom of your wedding dress). Same goes for the beach.

You can definitely find the perfect pair of wedding shoes that will be stylish, and comfortable. You really can have both if you plan ahead.
