A part of Samsung's Ultra edition range, Samsung D900 follows the footsteps of Samsung's best selling phones. It comes after the huge success of D500 and the still going strong - the D600. With a such strong pedigree, it was obvious that the Samsung D900 would be a great not only in terms of its looks but also in terms of the engineering that went into the making of it.

Samsung D900 is a slim slider phone, much slimmer than its predecessors. It seems that the phone was designed keeping in mind the pockets. The layout of the phone is much similar to that of the conventional slider phones. The exterior is dominated with a screen, that is bright and clear. Further, it displays a resolution of 262,000 colours, meaning reading text messages or browsing the net outdoor, becomes quite easy.

Beneath the screen are situated two soft keys and a navigation key. Along with a send, cancel and end call key at the bottom. The keys are extremely user-friendly and provides a good feel to the fingers. Samsung D900 adds a small ridge at the top of the navigation key. This means, you can slide the Samsung D900 without pressing on the screen or the navigation key, and unintentionally opening an application.

Samsung comes with a solid Mp3 player to jazz up your life. The player is compatible with almost all popular formats and also comes with a support for stereo Bluetooth. Further, there are options to download more tracks and store them. A volume rocker is located at the left side of the Samsung D900 and lets you adjust the volume while listening to music, or when amidst call. D900's 3Megapixels camera features an LED photo light, portrait mirror and autofocus. It also offers the versatility of built-in image editor and provisions to add photo effects and frames.

Other features of Samsung D900 include quad-band and EDGE connectivity, a speakerphone, a voice recorder, an integrated Web browser, a document viewer, and a TV output.

Nonetheless Samsung D900 poses some drawbacks so far the ergonomics are concerned. The most glaring problem with the D900 is that, at the bottom of the keypad section there is a projection. This often gets into the way when you are trying to press the bottom three keys (used for spacing and change word). The keys are completely flushed, and the keypad is narrower. There is also a lack of 3G and proper flash for camera.
