How to Find Article Content

Do you write articles? If you do, you may want to think at least a few minutes before you start to write. It takes more than words on paper to get someone’s attention. You’ve also got to figure out where to get article content. If you know where to get it, you’ll be able to write a lot quicker and it will be more effective. Let me give you 3 ways to get ideas for article content.

1. I imagine you’ve searched for books on Amazon.com before. You’ve probably noticed how you can read at least a few pages of most books. Typically you can look at the table of contents, part of the first chapter, the index, and back cover of the book. Well here’s what you do: go to Amazon, search for a book on your topic (internet marketing, mlm, etc), look at the highly-rated books on your topic and then look at what the authors are writing about in the table of contents. Chapter titles can give you a good indication of what people are interested in. So write on it or at least about it. The idea is to get some sort of “inspiration” to let your ideas flow.

2. This is an easy one: check major article directories to see which articles most people are reading on your topic. If articles are generating lots of views and downloads, that’s because people want that content. So write on something similar but add more value. The idea isn’t to steal content but to give you some ideas on how to make that content your own, add something to it, and market it to your audience. You may also want to check out the signature box on these articles and the author’s other articles for ideas on what they’re doing. If you’re doing article marketing, then your content and signature box should be top notch.

3. Forums are where lots of people get ideas for article content. Instead of just reading what others are writing on topics, you want to know what questions people keep asking. You may notice these questions are around certain topics (e.g., ppc, blogging) or these questions may be asked by certain “groups” (e.g., internet marketing newbies, those wanting to do internet marketing using social networking sites). That way you can customize your articles not only based on the content but on the audience. You may want to envision who you’re writing to and what sort of questions they’re asking.

These 3 ways to get ideas should help your ideas flow and your traffic to increase. Speak to your audience when you write—as if you were talking. When people are online, they have many other sources competing for their time and attention. Your article must add value. This will increase your traffic and you’ll probably learn new traffic-generating tricks along the way.
