No, not because I make a small commission.
The Umbrella policy protects my insured's from the worst of the worst claims. These are the type of claims that can financially ruin a person.
Imagine the insured's regret or mine if they had a massive accident and their auto policy limits did not fully cover the claim.
More than likely, they would personally be sued. If found negligent they could end up covering the claim with their own assets. That could mean using precious savings or even having wages garnished.
An Umbrella Policy is usually under-sold in the insurance market.
It is not required. No state mandates its purchase. It is an "extra" coverage.
Umbrella's are fairly reasonable. You may pay $350 for $1,000,000 coverage. For that reason, I find them to be valuable to have.
If you own a home and/or have other assets and earn an income you need to carefully consider purchasing an Umbrella policy. You may never need it (and hopefully not) but if you did you also would have to consider the alternative. What if you did not have it as "extra" protection. This is a sue happy country. If you have assets, someone will seek it if given the opportunity.
