Keyword Analysis - Content isn’t everything!

There was a time when traffic was the most important component to any website published on the internet, this then changed to content is the most important component to any website. I do agree with this latter statement, however, I do believe that having a mixture of both content and traffic will make a website more successful.

So you have built a website, you are proud of the content, however the only person to visit the site is, you and a few of your friends that you emailed. You need to get constant traffic to your website.

How do you get traffic to your website?

The easiest and quickest route is to pay for traffic. I wouldn't recommend using a company that guarantees you traffic, as these only supply you with non targeted users. I would however, use something like Google Adwords. This is a Pay-Per-Click (PPC) service and is user internationally for generating site traffic. There is one problem with PPC; it can be expensive if you don't know what you are doing!

One excellent eBook that I have read shows you techniques to keep Google Adwords costs to a minimum. Google Cash, now in its 3rd edition, this eBook can teach you everything there is to know about researching keywords, etc. This is a must in your arsenal of tools for better site traffic.

Also, when researching keywords, one of the best tools that I have found invaluable is KeywordAnalyzer. This is a fantastic tool that will allow you to easily find niche keyword.

PPC is not the only method of promoting your website. Another idea is to use a Blog. Simply, you use the Blog to write a review of what you are trying to sell or the website that you want people to visit. Put lots of links into the Blog to the relevant page. Search engines like Google love Blogs and will index your site much quicker if it is relevant to the content of the Blog. Therefore, try and keep the content of your Blog to the same subject as the page you are promoting.

One great website for doing such a thing is Squidoo, this is a great site and work on the premise that you set up a page and then type away about you subject including links to the site/page/product that you want to promote. You can visit other Squidoo pages or lenses as they are called and request that their authors take a look at your lens and rate it. Please don't forget to rate the other persons lens and to leave a hyperlink back to your lens in their guest book. There are plenty of topics about this on Squidoo.

Using the techniques above should bring traffic to your site. As I have said earlier, the most quickest is using Google Adwords or another PPC website. However, if you can't afford that then by all means use the Blogging methods. You won't get traffic as quick but after a short amount of time you will get a steady stream of FREE traffic.

All of these processes have worked for me in the past. However, much is dependant on your content. Always make sure that you have an equal balance of Good Content and Good Traffic Flow in you site.
