Are you new to the world of weight lifting and need a good routine? This article will give you some of the basics that you will need for a good weight lifting routine.

My first, and maybe the most important, tip I have for you when you get a weight lifting routine is to have a good diet. You need to be eating six small meals a day. I know you probably thought that three big meals a day with snacks in between is good but it isn't. If you have six small meals a day then you not only are eating health but you are getting a better metabolism.

Your metabolism gets better because the meals help to raise your metabolism and with a high metabolism you can eat a lot of food and lose the weight other people would gain. This will eventually help you so you are losing fat and only gaining muscle.

The second tip I have for you is you need to have a good length to your workout routine. You should be lifting no less than 45 min and no more than an hour and a half. If you lift somewhere between those times then you will be getting enough lifting in to help you build muscle but you are not overworking your muscles so that they do not grow.

When you lift for those short amounts of time you have to work fast. You should have no more than a 90 second break in between sets. You should do anywhere between 5-10 reps for your workout. I would suggest you do 5-7 reps one week, with heavy weight, and 8-10 reps the next week, with lighter weight.

You should also only work on one ore two muscle groups each day and never do the same muscle group two days in a row. You need to give your muscles time to rest that way they can grow. You should also only lift weight four to five days a week. The other two to three days you should spend resting. The rest is the most important part to building muscle. When you rest you give your muscles a chance to grow.

These are just some of the things I have found to be important when making a weight lifting routine. Get your rest, eat six small, healthy meals a day, and do not over lift, and you should have a good weight lifting routine.
