Your kids won’t often tell you if you’re doing a good job as a mom. In fact, sometimes your confidence as a mom may get quite low because it is so hard to get realistic feedback at mothering. Motherhood is a difficult job, especially because there is no singular method of doing it. Every child, family, and mother is different, making each method of parenting different. So, how can you be confident as a mom, even through the tough times?
There is no easy answer to this question, the only thing that you can do is to trust your instincts and go with your gut. If your children are happy and healthy, you can be confident as a mom that you are doing something right. Tuning into your child’s needs and always having the antenna of availability on, so that your child knows that he/she can tell you what’s on their mind at any time will prove to be the best feedback you will ever get on your parenting. More importantly, project an air of confidence around your children. Sometimes we have to give “tough-love,” and in doing that, we can’t waiver as mothers. Projecting confidence will reassure our children that we are only doing what is in their best interest because we love them. When you project confidence to others, even your children, you will begin to feel that way.
Being confident as a mom is not an easy thing, particularly when you are balancing the demands of motherhood with the demands of a business. The important thing is to remain focused and consistent. As long as your children are doing well, you have every right to be confident.
