I've lived in St. Louis for almost two decades. The "Gateway to the West" is full of great things to do on your family vacation.
St. Louis offers a huge selection of sports events no matter what time of the year. The most popular attraction is St. Louis Cardinals baseball. You can no longer visit the "old" Busch stadium (which has been demolished) but you can visit the "new" Busch Stadium which opens in 2006. In the fall you can go to St. Louis Rams games. Or if you like colder sports you can go to a St. Louis Blues game. There are also a number of smaller professional sports teams in St. Louis. All vacations to St. Louis should include a game. You'll be amazed at how fanatical St. Louis is about sports.
No visit to St. Louis would be complete without a trip to the top of the Gateway Arch. You can ride to the top in a "stair-step" elevator and take in all of the views. You'll see the Mississippi River to the East and downtown and beyond to the West. Be sure to call ahead for hours.
You'll also find plenty of evening entertainment and dining. St. Louis is famous for "The Hill" with its many fine restaurants. You can also catch some music at Laclede's Landing. You're also just a short drive from Forest Park and Washington University. Many visitors also like to take a free tour of the Busch brewery.
Hopefully you'll find St. Louis to be a great vacation destination. Enjoy your visit!
