Sleeping is a part of everyday function. To sleep is to give our mind and body a rest. To sleep and dream, beautiful dreams are sometimes taken for granted. There are some people who had a hard time falling asleep or not getting enough sleep.

Insomnia is inadequate sleeping condition. Occasional insomnia according to the American Insomnia Association is experience by more than a third of American adults, and chronic insomnia is known to effect more than one in ten.

Insomnia is not defined by the number of hours you sleep, but by the quality of sleep. You will know you that by tossing and turning or being awake all night is a sign that you're suffering from insomnia. The next day you feel sluggish and tired.

THE EFFECTS OF INSOMNIA


Insomnia can go on for days and months. At first, it seems fine with you, you were able to cope but when insomnia goes on and on frequently,it will soon take its toll on your body. If you don't seek any kind of expert help. You will be starting to experience the following:

Poor Health
Irritability
Impatience
Diminished mental alertness
Poor Memory
Anxiety Disorder
Depression
Poor job performance
Must likely experience some accidents

At times, Insomnia is the result of too much stress and worry. It could be also to what you eat or drink for instance; like if you have much caffeine intake in a given day. It could be also too much smoking, as nicotine is a stimulant. Other medications or herbal supplements can also contribute to sleeplessness.









KINDS OF INSOMNIA

1.SHORT-TERM INSOMNIA- an insomnia is the inability to sleep well for a period of 4 weeks up to 6 months. Factors might be stress, illness and medical conditions.
2.TRANSIENT INSOMNIA – a change in time zone (Jet lag) or sleep schedule can trigger this, a stressful emotional event or any physical activity before bedtime
3.CHRONIC INSOMNIA- this is defined as poor sleep every night for more than six months or even years. This may be caused by a sleep disorder,poor sleep hygiene,psychiatric problem, abnormal physical activity that cause sleep disruptions

If excessive sleepiness during the day or you are experiencing concentration problems that can be a serious case. It is best to seek help so the doctor can find the cause of your insomnia to have a proper diagnosis.


Often a doctor who specializes in sleep problems or sleep specialists who works at a sleep center. Insomnia shouldn't interfere your daily existence and treatment is available for such need. Ambien is a well known oral medicine that treats insomnia.

While seeking treatment try to reduce fatigue like lessening your exercises and other heavy physical activity. Avoid foods such coffee instead try drinking tea,reduce the noise by using earplugs or changing rooms especially if you are hearing the neighbor's dogs loud barking and another sounds like the vehicles passing by.
