The 34th Annual Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach will be taking a decided step into the future on April 18-20, 2008.

America’s top street racing event will highlight a dynamic new attraction for 2008, the Green Power Prix-View TM. There will also be multiple racing series including Champ Cars, the Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race, Drifting and powerful sports cars.

Green Power Prix-View TM will feature unswerving, weekend-long shows of alternative energy vehicles and on-circuit activities featuring vehicles that might range from hydrogen-powered cars to robotic vehicles.

Furthermore, the Lifestyle and Alternative Energy Expo - free with a race ticket - will be adding several exhibits highlighting a wide array of renewable energy sources, water and energy conservation and green building materials to its over 150 exhibitors already offering the latest products and services in automotive, travel, home improvement, fitness and recreation in the Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center.



Les Unger, Toyota National Motorsports Manager, said Toyota appreciates the addition of Green Power Prix-View to the 2008 Grand Prix for it will be a great opportunity for race fans to get a distinctive insight as to where Toyota and other vehicles are headed in the future. He added that they welcome the opportunity to exhibit the future cars to a knowledgeable Southern California audience that is already a speed-setter for alternative energy use in the U.S.

Jim Michaelian, CEO of the Grand Prix Association of Long Beach, said it’s an idea whose time has most certainly come to the world of motorsports. He added the Green Power Prix-View will give their sponsors a big chance to see how the energy alternatives of the future will affect the vehicles they drive and the vehicles they may someday watch racing on the streets of Long Beach.


Available for companies wishing to promote their green technology efforts are Green Power Prix-View TM entitlement and associate sponsorship opportunities.

Again, the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach race weekend will include the famous Tecate Cool Zone, with Tecate’s Fiesta Friday Concert and Saturday Rock-N-Roar Concert, alongside the Tecate Miss Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach pageant immediately following the Rock-N-Roar Concert. The three events are free to race ticket holders.

Furthermore, race fanatics will get to try with their hand the latest in computer games or turn some hot laps in karts, and will again enjoy demos that feature extreme sports, motorcycles, bikes and skateboards.

On July 27, ticket renewal packages will be mailed and tickets on sale to the general public will begin October 5.
