One of the aspects of interior decoration is putting Wallpaper on the walls or other things that needed to be beautify. Wallpaper is material which is used to cover and decorate the interior walls of homes, offices, and other buildings. Wallpapers are usually sold in rolls and are put onto a wall using an adhesive. There are innumerable designs of the wallpapers, though wallpapers can come either plain so it can be painted or with patterned graphics. Wallpaper printing techniques include surface printing, gravure printing, silk screen-printing, and rotary printing, offset printing etc.. Now-a-days wallpapers are custom printed digitally of almost any design. Wallpaper can be single sheet of a design, graphic etc. cut into equal rectangular pieces and later pasted side by side to complete the scene or can be pattern used to tile an infinite plane.

There are only seventeen possible basic patterns, which can be used to tile an infinite plane. All manufactured wallpaper patterns are based on these patterns. A single pattern can be issued in several different ways and colours.

It is always better to select the wallpaper as per the other material put in the room or the place where the wallpaper is required for covering. It should match or contrast to give a better look. The design, pattern or graphic should come in the theme. Wallpaper should be of the best quality meeting all safety and longevity requirements as the wall paper do not come cheap and should last for many years. They should be abrasion, dust, dirt, stain and moisture resistant.

Like all other wall coverings, paint etc, wallpaper also needs appropriate surface preparation before their application. Surface preparation includes the repair of any defects in the wall or plaster and the removal of loose material or old adhesives or any superficial coating and making the surface dry before application. Wallpaper is not suitable for areas where there is lot of moisture or heat; wallpaper may discolor or deteriorate quickly due to excessive dampness or temperature.

The wallpapers should be procured from reliable source only and only expert should be engaged to fix them with proper adhesive that may not wrinkle or stain the wall paper on the long run. Care should be taken to select the adhesive so that when the wallpaper is removed, it may not damage the walls. It should be straight and should not give an impression that is pasting of several sheets tiled one upon/beside other. It should look like a single homogeneous piece. It should end up in the corners of the walls. The extra wallpaper should be cut away. The wallpaper shorter than the wall will mess up the entire show. If there is not enough wallpaper, a frame of wood or Plaster of Paris (PoP) is erected around it so that the wall paper look fine in the middle.
