Getting rich quickly has been the long, elusive dream of many an Internet searcher. So what’s the appeal? Why are we so fascinated by the idea of getting rich quickly? Maybe it has to do with the freedom we envision this newfound wealth will bring. It could be that we just once want to be free from worry, free from financial struggle. For some, it might be the dream of providing for all of the material needs of their families. For others, it’s the freedom from a job. Mainly, it probably has to do with the fact that most people don’t know how to truly build wealth, so it’s the ‘quick’ and ‘easy’ parts that carry the appeal.
This much is for sure, the “get rich quick” industry is booming. With literally millions of get rich programs out there, it can be very difficult to get any real information about the money-making and home-business opportunities out there. Which ones are legitimate? Here we count down the top 5 “get rich” programs and break down the information we have on them. Get ready for some get rich quick festivities:
Number 5: Online Surveys
Online surveys have quickly become a phenomenon among the “get rich quick” crowd. The premise is that market research companies will pay for you to take surveys to assist in understanding their target market. So, let’s break it down:
Premise: Online marketing companies will pay for your product input.
True or False: True. The basic idea of this concept is actually based in fact. Market research companies do, in fact pay vendors for surveys. The question is: are there enough marketing dollars to pay for all the work-at homer wannabes? Many people report being able to make a modest amount of extra money with some of these survey programs. The problem is, the research clients are often looking for very focused data, so you will be ineligible for large numbers of surveys.
Get Rich Quick Chances?: Slim. But, if you find the right company and you’re willing to put in a fair amount of time you can probably make some solid extra income with one of these programs.
Number 4: Blogging
You may be asking yourself, ‘what is blogging’? Blogging is writing regular articles on a topic (or multiple topics) and posting those articles on the Internet. Exactly what we do here (no, we’re not getting rich blogging).
Premise You write articles and sell advertising to generate revenue.
True or False True…sort of. The truth is that advertisers don’t care how good of a writer you are, how exciting your topic is, or how passionate you are about it. The only thing the advertiser sees is traffic. On the Internet, traffic is king. The difficulty here is that driving traffic is the hardest part of the whole endeavor. Earning revenue through blogging is a very difficult and time-consuming. Very few “professional bloggers” make significant amounts of money.
Get Rich Quick Chances?: Very Slim. Again, you can probably make some supplemental income if you work hard. If you found a topic that exploded with interest, you may be able to generate a “get rich” sized income, but it won’t be quick.
Number 3: No Money Down Real Estate Investing
This is an old mainstay in the get rich industry. Many people of have made and lost fortunes in this game.
Premise Buy real estate, cash out equity, sell real estate.
True or False True
Obviously, many people make gazillions of dollars in real estate. The catch is, these people usually already have money to invest. Most of us don’t have that luxury. While it’s true that there are some ways to finance real estate purchases with little or no cash, it’s difficult. If you have excellent credit and an eye for property deals, you can make some real money. The problem is that you are dealing with very large sums of money and this kind of investing can go bad fast. When you consider all of the costs included in a real estate transaction—agent commissions, inspections, closing costs—profit can be eaten up quickly.
Get Rich Quick Chances?: Moderate, if done correctly.
Number 2: Ebay
Premise: Buy products cheap, sell them on Ebay for a profit.
True or False True
We weren’t sure whether or not to include this one because it’s not really a special “get rich” program. This is really just business 101 via a newish medium. Buy low, sell high. The only difference here is that you can cheaply and easily reach a much larger customer group.
Get Rich Quick Chances?: If you find a killer product at a great price—fair to good.
Number 1 Affiliate/Online Marketing
Premise: You find a product or products you want to promote and receive commissions for each sale your marketing generates.
True or False True
Again, this is really just an old model, commissioned sales people, adapted for new technology. The difference here is that the new technology can greatly enhance the volume of sales that a marketer can achieve. This model has probably produced the most wealth for Internet professionals. If you find the right product and develop the right marketing strategy you can repeat it across a range of mediums.
Get Rich Quick Chances?: Fair to Good.
