Money has a secret value that goes beyond what you buy with it. Ignore this value at your peril because the secret value of money is what empowers you to make more money and keep the money you make.

The secret value of money is the lessons you learn as you are making it. Ignore these lessons and you are far more likely to lose what you have and go back to “square one.”

Be mindful of these lessons and your chances of keeping what you make and adding to it improve dramatically. And even if you lose all your money, the lessons you learned while making your first fortune will hold you in good stead. If you need a second time around, you will likely make twice as much in half the time.

Although the lessons to which I refer might be tax, estate, and asset protection strategies, these are not what I have in mind. While these are certainly important, they pale before lessons like knowing how to organize your efforts around a definite chief objective, generate a steady stream of creative ideas, go the extra mile to provide outstanding service, and become a student of your business.

Add lessons like how to set objectives, manage your attitude, allocate your time and resources wisely and you have a more powerful body of wealth-generating wisdom than all the “how-to” courses your credit card can buy.

In this sense, money is a symbol of the lessons learned. And this suggests a simple way to put these lessons into words.

Here’s how to do this.

Take a dollar bill and put it on the table in front of you. For best results, clear the table of everything else.

Ask the dollar bill, “What are the most important lessons you’ve taught me? What have I learned about you that will help me prosper even more?”

Then take a deep breath and elevate your gaze as if looking at a point just above a distant horizon.

Now let your mind answer. Trust your imagination and it will present you with sights and sounds of memories that perhaps you haven’t thought of in some time.

Ask yourself “What did I learn? What lesson did this teach me? What do I know today or do differently everyday because of this experience?”

Before long, you will have at least two or three lessons that you learned in the process of making money that will help you make even more.

So learn the true value of money. The success lessons you’ve learned about money are an insurance policy that guarantees that you will prosper regardless of conditions and circumstances that are good, bad or indifferent.
