The beautiful thing about the world today is that we paint over all of our ugly terms with eloquent euphemisms. That being said, I’m not short—I’m vertically challenged. Throw a pair of nerf bars on your truck and you won’t need Yao Ming’s help to strap down your board!

What up SoCal shredders? Here’s a fresh product for all you vertically challenged surfers out there. When the surf’s going off you don’t want anything holding you back from charging those waves, right? Throwing a pair of nerf bar on the side of your rig can be a huge help.

I’m driving a ’04 Ford Explorer Sport Trac. It’s got aftermarket taillights, a Gibson exhaust, and I just put in new headers. And it’s sitting on 20’s. Niiiiiiiiiiiiiice. Now I absolutely love this truck, but being 5’2 doesn’t make it the easiest ride to hop right into. Not to mention the how much fun it is strapping down my board.

My friend was telling me this legendary horror story that happened to his buddy. It was Big Wednesday and the surf was the biggest it’s ever been. And I mean huge—waves the size of mountains. Now this dude, I’m pretty sure his name was Andy, was stoked beyond belief. This was the moment he had been waiting for—the defining moment in his life when he could prove himself; a chance for respect, a chance for glory, a chance to become a legend. So this dude grabbed his suit, threw his board on his roof, gave a quick pull to the straps, and slammed his foot on the accelerator, blasting down the street like a bat out of hell. Visions of fame mixed with bumping tunes filled his head. Unfortunately, Andy’s board wasn’t fully strapped down and flew off the roof somewhere between his house and the beach. Needless to say, Andy’s board was smashed up when he finally found it and he never surfed that day. Andy is now jobless, homeless, and hopeless. He never got over missing Big Wednesday. -Mike Rosania

Let’s just say I’m not going to make the same mistakes as poor old Andy. I recently got a sick set of nerf bars that give me full reach to the top of truck so I can strap board on their nice and tight.

I found a ton of awesome Nerf Bars and Truck Accessories online.
