What you need to do is UP THE POWER of the language you've been using. This is what the most successful marketers do. One way to increase the power of your ads is to use hypnotic language in them.
There are quite a few ways to do this, we'll discuss a few of the most powerful ones here.
1. Amnesia, or Getting Your Prospects to Forget About Your Competition
The first thing you have to do is get your prospects to forget about the people selling the same benefits as you are. You can easily do this by just telling them to do so. You can use words and phrases like these: "forget," "dismiss," "difficult to remember," "unimportant to remember," "too tedious to remember" "impossible to remember," "let it go."
2. Hypernesia, or Getting Your Prospects to Remember You
Ideally, you want your prospects to TAKE ACTION NOW, that's in a perfect world. We all know that if you're selling online, prospects will keep coming to your site or receiving your autoresponder reports several times before they pay you any money. So, what can you do to speed up this process? You do it by inducing hypernesia in your readers making it easier for them to think about and remember your offer.
Try some of these expressions peppered throughout your ads, "you won't be able to forget" "it is unforgettable" "you won't be able to get this out of your head" "you will think about this all day" "this will give you positive memories forever" "your wife/husband will always remember you because of this," "recall," "impressed on your mind," "lasting impression," "keep in mind."
3. Appeal to All the Senses to Fully Involve Your Prospects
The most persuasive people in our society create vivid and exciting images in the minds of others that influence their thinking and behavior. And you can easily apply this word magic in your advertising. Think of the results your product or service gets for your customers. Put it into sensory language - Visual, Audio, Kinesthetic (feelings). What benefits will they see after they own your product? How will they feel after they buy your product (emotions and physical feelings, if applicable)? What great things will they hear (compliments, envious remarks from co-workers, etc.) Does your product include something they will taste or smell? Include those, too.
4. Presuppositions, or Getting Readers to Believe They You Can Help Them Get What They Want
This one is from the field of NLP, and it's such a powerful and varied way of persuading I don't know even where to begin. Presupposing is a type of mental process. When someone says something to us (or when we are reading), we have to presuppose what's been said in order for it to make sense - and accept it. So if I say "My wife is driving to work this morning," the presuppositions in that sentence are - I'm married to a woman, she has a car, she has a job. Pretty obvious, right? But don't be fooled by the simplicity. By saying that sentence, I've put those obvious thoughts into your head without even saying that I'm married to a woman who has a car and a job. You automatically and unconsciously accepted it.
Now what if I ask you this question? "What are you going to do with all that money once you start putting hypnotic language in your advertising?" The important presuppositions here are these: "You are going to make a lot of money." "You are going to put hypnotic language in your ads," and "hypnotic language is going to make the money." I got you to believe that adding hypnotic language to your ads will make you more money without directly stating it.
Here's an example of selling my NLP Language Patterns for Advertising ebook using the the four hypnotic language techniques listed above:
