One of California state insurance requirements operates under a Tort system which means that there must be someone who will be found responsible for the cause or occurrence of an accident, and therefore the responsible party(ies) and their auto insurance company will be held responsible for the payment of bills and other damages. It is also important for you to know and be aware that the Tort system in other states differs from that of California auto insurance companies, and it is highly impotant if you inquire and get more information from your state auto insurance regulator. Certain links are also provided to give you informations about your state insurance regulations.

California state insurance requirements involves that ther must be a minimum Bodily Injury Liability auto insurance coverage of $15,000 per injured victims and a total of $30,000 if the injured victims are more than one in the accident, and Property Damage Liability auto insurance coverage of $5,000 which is the minimum limit. This coverage for property and victims is highly required by the California auto insurance law, and this basis coverage is usually referred to as a 15/30/5 coverage.

Personal Injury Protection (PIP) included in your auto insurance coverage assists you to be able to pay for all important and essential expenses brought about by medical treatment for you and your passengers. Although the California auto insurance law does not involve a minimum requirement of a Personal Injury Protection, some California auto insurance companies will provide this coverage as an optional coverage.

As an addition to the one aformentioned, you can also buy Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist auto insurance coverage for any bodily injury that is brought about by an uninsured driver. Although California auto insurance law does not also involve a requirement for this coverage, it is optional and adviseable to buy or acquire this coverage from any California auto insurance companies as an addition for an added protection.
