Creating an Information product for sale on-line is easy!

Easy if you're a dreamer, but the reality is quite a bit different. The on-line world is full of dreamers that have played and flopped - crashing out before they got going at all.

It is possible to improve the odds however. It takes work and a fair bit of it too. Do the work up front and you will have a far better chance of success.

Here is an approach that continues to work for me and with some creativity will work for you too.

In writing this I am assuming you have done all the usual stuff like:

1:  Brainstorm your areas of interest

2:  Review popular magazines for topics of interest

3:  Taken a look around clickbank to see what's popular and what's not

4:  Taken a look around Amazons best sellers for books that fit your intended market etc

There are more, lots more things you can do.

So you find a subject you think is interesting, you may even know something about the subject matter and you have learnt along the way that there are sites that will facilitate the ghost writing of an ebook that fits the niche to a 'T'. So you're good to go!

Well actually no you are not 'good to go' at all and far from it.

O.K. if you have money and time to throw away, don't easily get frustrated and enjoy  'tinkering' at the edges in the hope that someday you'll make big money on-line then go for it... enjoy yourself and do everyone else who is competing against you a great favour.

But if you want to succeed in your on-line venture and you are open to productive ideas... then read on.

One of the first questions you might want to ask yourself is (and I am going with an ebook as a first product to keep the explanation straight forward) is, does the subject interest me or does it interest the potential customer? Hopefully you can answer yes to both questions, only don't make the mistake that many first time marketers make in pushing an ebook for which the market has not been tested BEFORE you even begin to pen the outline to either write yourself or pass to your ghost writer if that's the path you intend to take.

You see it is all about research - lots and lots of research. Do it right and you have the greatest possible chance of hitting the target on first shot. Skip this element or do a poor job on it and you might as well put on a blindfold before aiming at the target. Sure you could just get lucky, but you won't.

This short article cannot of course cover the whole process but nonetheless here is a route you might like to take along that yellow brick road toward ultimate success.

What does your visitor want?

What interests your visitor?

What has your visitor not been able to find?

Note this is all about what the CUSTOMER is looking for and has nothing to do with what you want to broadcast - "the hand ain't listening".

So how to find out.

If you're familiar with google adwords and pay per click campaigns then there is your first clue.

No we don't (at first anyway) send surfers to your web site with pay per click.

What we do however is drive them to a web page that asks them a question in exchange for a small gift (free bonus, free copy of the ebook when it's finished etc) and in return gets them to leave their name and email address (so you can send the gift) and then proceeds to ask them a question.

A question such as...

What is the most pressing question you have concerning 'subject' that if you had access to a panel of experts you would ask?

They answer the one question, press submit and you get a growing subscriber list plus real insight into what the customer is looking for.

In a short time you will have chapter headings and content suggestions around which you will get your ebook written and about which you will build your sales page for the ebook when finished.

Now you have a path to follow, a process to work through and a light at the end of the tunnel.

Of course there is much to understand and much to do in order to fully embrace the approach and far more than space allows here.

Like any craftsman you need the tools and guidance on how to use them and good tools coupled with the skill in using them provides you the best chance of creating a desirable Information product that visitors will flock to buy.
