General Motors Corp.'s Saab division now takes its Aero concept over the 2008 Saab 9-7X mid size sport utility vehicle (SUV). According to Shannon, "The Saab 9-7X Aero is one great SUV to pilot. We are excited to offer enthusiastic drivers an increased level of performance with the Aero, a symbol of Saab performance, in the midsize SUV segment."

The limited edition Aero version of the 2008 Saab 9-7X, called the Saab 9-7X Aero comes with sporty features as well as the highest level of driving performance. The vehicle will roll out dealerships all over the U.S. starting this autumn carrying a base manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) of $45,690. Meanwhile, the 2008 Saab 9-7X base model is price at $39,935.

According to a Saab official press release, "The 2008 Saab 9-7X brings unique Saab brand characteristics to the midsize SUV segment, including sophisticated styling inside and out, premium design features, and the sporty and spirited performance inherent to Saab vehicles. The limited edition 9-7X Aero takes Saab's interpretation on the midsize SUV to an entirely new level accelerating the performance aspect of the sophisticated vehicle with a 6.0L V-8, 20-inch wheels and tires, unique paint and custom interior accouterments."

Outside, the Saab 9-7X Aero come sin Carbon Flash Metallic exterior color, as well as charcoal metallic paint in the lines of this exclusive model. Other exterior features include the 20-inch polished aluminum wheels wrapped with P255/50R20 V-speed-rated performance tires. Moving inside, the vehicles are equipped with luxurious driver-oriented cockpit-inspired interior. These include embossed floor mats along with "Aero" embroidered leather seats.

On the technical side, the new Saab 9-7X Aero is equipped with a lowered chassis tuned to deliver responsive balanced handling, according to Saab. Front stabilizer bars that are 10% larger are also included to provide improved corner control and body roll control. In addition to the suspension components, a heavy-duty rear axle with limited-slip differential is also installed to provide more strength to the vehicle.


Other technical features of the Saab 9-7X Aero include four-wheel disc braking system, anti lock brakes (ABS), heavy-duty iron calipers, Torsen center differential, StabiliTrak electronic stability control system, and automatic all-wheel-drive system.

At the heart of the Saab 9-7X Aero comes a monstrous LS2 6.0-liter V8 engine that is capable of pumping out 390 horsepower (295 kW) at 6,000 rpm and pulls out 395 lb.-ft. of torque (542 Nm) at 4,000 rpm. The engine comes with a composite intake manifold to provide a balanced horsepower and torque output. Of course, quality Saab catalytic converter is also included to reduce harmful exhaust emissions.

Watch out for this vehicle when it rolls out in U.S. markets this fall.
