Car accidents are what motorists keep on avoiding. Most of the times, the braking system is a factor in these road accidents. The safety features of a vehicle is usually what car companies boast about, just like Saturn. Saturn makes high quality brake parts, one of which is the Saturn brake rotor.

A brake rotor is the flat disk-like plates that provide the friction surface in a disc brake. Through this, the car will slow down or stop. When one steps on the brake pedal inside the car, brake fluid is sent to the brake calipers causing hydraulic pressure to squeeze the Saturn brake rotor in between the brake pads.

Some rotors have cooling fins between both faces and are called vented rotors. But not all rotors have these cooling fins. It recommended though that brake rotors have one. Saturn brake rotor has a high co-efficient of friction in order to stop the car’s running mode.

Since it is a vital component on a car's, it should be given enough attention by checking if it is working well. Even if Saturn brake rotor is made with superior quality, with the condition its working at, it will not last forever. So, whenever the brake rotors finally turned warped and cracked, it's time to replace it with a new one. One reason on why it is warp is because of expansion and contraction of the metal disc rotor due to driving through a puddle of water on the exit ramp or due to severely worn out brake pads that have been grinding metal to metal on the brake rotor, thus cutting grooves in the rotor surface. It is recommended that replacements should be done immediately before further damage occur, or worst car accidents.

At times, when installing a new brake pad, it is advisable that the brake rotors be resurfaced. If not, it may cause immediate warping, cracking and scarring of the brake rotor. Motorists should keep in mind the importance of an efficient brake system.
