For a vehicle to perform well, its essential components should be in top form. This is especially true with engine parts. Using inferior auto parts limits a car's performance potential. Acura, one of the Japanese-bred luxury car brands that plunged into the American automotive scene in the 1980s, has painstakingly manufactured vehicles equipped with only the best components. One of these is the Acura Fuel Pump.

Acura Fuel Pump is basically a component that pumps fuel into the engine's tank. Fuel pumps are placed inside the fuel tank to create pressure along the fuel lines, thereby pushing the gasoline to the engine. This placement also serves a safety purpose as the chances of starting a fire are reduced. Meanwhile, fuel has to be carefully delivered under low pressure to the carburetor or under high pressure to the fuel injection system. Some of Acura's fuel injected engines have two fuel pumps for this purpose: one low-pressure or high-volume supply pump in the tank and one high-pressure or low-volume pump on or near the engine.

Before the 1970s, cars use mechanically driven pumps. Most modern vehicles, however, are equipped with electrically driven fuel pumps. Electric fuel pumps are generally located in the fuel tank. An electric Acura Fuel Pump uses the fuel in the tank to cool itself and ensure a steady supply of fuel. Despite the presence of electrical elements such as the pump itself, liquid fuel will not explode, as long as the pump is inside the tank.

While luxury best typifies the aesthetic characteristics of Acura, the carmaker's true color still lies under the hood, where a group of engine components, including the Acura Fuel Pump, work together to perform beyond the usual automotive standards. For this reason, it is highly recommended that Acura owners put maintenance of the internal system on top of their list. After all, Acura makes a name for itself, not just for its looks, but for its performance as well.
